Trooper Probe Update + Sarah Palin's Email (09-17-08)

While Palin continues her campaign with McCain around the country, an Alaska senate panel is investigating claims that she misused her powers. She dismissed the director of public safety, Walt Monegan, and while some claim it was because he refused to fire a state trooper who happened to be the governors ex brother in law, Palin claims it was because of a budget dispute. A judiciary committee voted to subpoena thirteen people, including Palin's husband Todd, whom many are urging should reveal personal information about the trooper. Republicans have been calling for the case to be held off until after the election, and some of Palins supporters are urging lawmakers to turn the investigation to the state government. Although this issue may seem miniscule it may be one of those minor factors which tip the election one way or another for McCain.

On a seperate note, hackers were able to break into Palin's personal email account and certain emails were given to the assosiated press. They infringed on her personal space and broke the law, but because they were able to hack her email, certain conversations between Palin and members of the Alaskan government were given to the associative press and may be used against Palin at some point in her campaign.
