This all after Palin and Bidin's vice presidential debate, which as predicted by Mr. Shulman, turned out to be pointless politically, and more like a vice-prediential reality show. The following is a brief represenation of parts of the debate.Days after this encounter both vice presidential candidates set to work in Florida, possibly the most important swing state in the election. It was said that in between her visits Palin attended private fundraisers for the McCain campaign.
Palin: "I may not answer questions the way you or the moderator want me to but I'm talking directly to the American people."
Biden: “Look, in an Obama-Biden administration, there will be absolutely no distinction from a constitutional standpoint or a legal standpoint between a same-sex and a heterosexual couple,” Biden said in answer to a question about whether he supported equal benefits for same-sex couples.
Palin: "Your question to him was whether he supported gay marriage and my answer is the same as his and it is that I do not."
Overall nothing Palin has been doing these past few days has really shaken the election. Although some say she has stabalized McCain support, Obama is still pulling ahead in the polls.

Sarah Palin's nomination has destroyed any possibility that McCain will win in the upcoming election. Saying that Obama is a terrorist will not help the McCain campaign whatsoever.
Are you sure? What's you reasoning to think that this won't have an effect on Obama's popularity?
According to the polls that i have been looking at, if you assume that Obama polls better than he actually does (which he did throughout the Democratic Primary), McCain is very much in this election and could win it. I do not believe Palin's nomination has destroyed any possibility of him getting elected. in fact if you look at the voter turnout of the demographics in Florida and then apply that to who will vote on the 4th, McCain is perhaps the leader in Florida, a state with a lot of electoral votes. The majority vote doesn't matter, what does matter are the electoral votes. This election is nowhere near over.

I believe that because the statements were made by Palin, they automatically loose most of their effect on the American people. The average Obama supporter values Palin's words about as much as they do Bush's in his "mission accompished" speech.
This isn't the first time someone tried to make a connection between Obama and terrorism. I would say the first of these attempts was the picture of Obama in some sort of tribal clothing in Africa, where the opposition tried to tie Obama to Islam. And although I understand that most Muslims are not terroists, I would say that the people trying to make this connection were trying to tie Obama to all the images associated with terrorism in the American mindset. Of course in the end it is obvious that Obama is not Muslim, and that these attempts have been made before and failed.
Im not sure how many times I will say this, but Dan Stein has it 100 percent right. Sarah Pallin has turned into a Saturday Night Live Character. I even read today that Saturday Night Lives ratings have soared since Tina Fey's addition to the show. Nothing Pallin says really matters and it is almost fodder for a new joke. The only thing she can do at this point is talk to evangelical christians and the far right because she has lost any opportunity of being taken seriously by any moderate. She should hang out with George W. Bush. I think both people would enjoy hanging out with eachother considering they are on similar intelligence levels and share some views. Also both only have the potential to hurt McCain at this point. He should try to act like she isnt really part of the campaign and move on
After Tina Fey's portrayal of Palin on SNL, McCain must be regretting his VP choice. No intelligent voter could possibly take her seriously. Even though most voters know that she is not qualified for the job of VP, there still are those voters who will support McCain because of Palin's attacks on Obama. Like Mr. Shulman always reminds us, we are looking at the election from more of an elitist point of view and do not consider what the average American bases their decision off of. When Americans in some areas of the country turn on their TV and hear Palin's lies about Obama's terrorist affiliations, they may believe her.
I would have to say that the average Obama supporter would value anything any republican (with the exception of perhaps Arlen Specter) the same "as much as they do Bush's in his "mission accompished" speech." Also, Palin's job, as the Vice presidential candidate is in fact to win over the conservatives who might be frightened away by McCain's more liberal opinions. And though I, peronally, will refrain from making any comment as to his intelligence level, Biden has been apointed VP candidate for the same perpose(in reverse) as Palin. Thus, I do not think that Palin destroyed anyone's chances of becoming president, and she has proved that in fact women can be more conservative then men, and that the Republicans may not be as conservative as the Democrats try to make them out to be. Lastly, I would venture to say that in futhering Tina Fey's career, has made more positive change to the world than either Presidential candidate, as of today.
Tina Fey 0'12
Indeed what Brittany said is the most important notion of this election. We must take into account that the majority of American people base their decisions on factors much differently than how we, as Country Day students, view matters in the election.
The interview conducted by USNews (linked below) pretty much sums up why we can't make assumptions on whether the American voter base agrees that Palin has eliminated McCain's chances.

It seems like the news stories that I've been hearing about palin lately all revolve around Tina Fey and her SNL portrayal of the Governor. Perhaps I just don't access the actual political news, but the mainstream media is seemingly just outputting frivolous new stories about palin which have no real regards to the McCain campaign besides slightly negative publicity.
